Fees

Fees & Billing

Countryside Medical Centre is a privately billing practice.

In limited circumstances, bulk billing may be available for pregnancy care where significant financial barriers exist. This is offered at the discretion of the treating GP obstetrician and considered on an individual basis.

Medicare rebate amounts are determined by the Federal Government and do not reflect the true cost of modern general practice care. Patients who wish to advocate for changes to rebate levels are encouraged to contact their local Member of Parliament.

If you are experiencing financial hardship or have concerns about accessing care, please speak with our practice manager prior to your appointment so we can discuss available options.

Procedure Fees

Some procedures or tests performed by your doctor may attract an additional fee, separate from the consultation fee, to cover the cost of medical supplies. You will be advised of any additional charges when applicable. Some services provided by the practice do not attract a Medicare rebate. Fees for these services will be discussed with you at the time of booking or during your appointment.

DVA Patients

If you hold a Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) Gold Card, standard consultations are covered by DVA. Some longer or additional services may incur a private fee, which will be discussed with you at the time of your appointment.

Children

In most cases, children under 16 years of age are covered by Medicare for standard consultations. Longer or additional services may attract a private fee, which will be explained to you before your appointment.

WorkCover & TAC

Consultations related to work-related injuries (WorkCover) or motor vehicle accidents (TAC) are not covered by Medicare. The cost for these consultations is the responsibility of the patient at the time of the appointment. Once your claim has been approved, you may seek reimbursement directly from WorkCover or TAC.

Routine requests (as per table above)

In most cases, after you submit your routine request, your doctor will call you for a phone consultation so that the service can attract a Medicare rebate rather than the private charge through hotdoc. If your doctor is able to complete a Medicare rebateable phone consultation with you, the separate private charge through hotdoc for that service will be cancelled.

LOST PATHOLOGY OR RADIOLOGY REQUESTS

If a pathology or radiology request needs to be reprinted, you may ask reception for a re-printed request signed by your doctor.

Or, you can submit a request through hotdoc here.

PREGNANCY DUE DATE LETTERS

Letters confirming a pregnancy due date can be requested for a fee (Medicare does not cover cost of an employment requirement unrelated to your medical care), or you may request one at your next appointment.

You can submit a request through hotdoc here.

MEDICAL CERTIFICATES

If you request a medical certificate within a few days of your appointment and for the same issue discussed during that visit, an administration fee will apply.  If you have not been seen by a doctor for this issue, you will generally need to book an appointment to obtain a medical certificate.

You can submit a request through hotdoc here.

REFERRALS

An appointment is required to obtain a referral.  In limited circumstances, if you have been seen by the doctor recently and require a simple, urgent referral renewal, this may be issued at the doctor’s discretion for an administration fee.

You can submit a request through hotdoc here.
